Eiffel tower lights12/8/2023 ![]() I particularly enjoy the view from Le Perchoir Le Marais, and, of course, from along the banks of the River Seine. A city-wide mandate ensures that no buildings are constructed which will be taller than the Eiffel Tower.Īs such, there are many beautiful Eiffel Tower views to be discovered all across the city. Of course, you don’t have to head directly underneath the Eiffel Tower in order to enjoy its light show. Rather than the typical five minutes, the final performance lasts a full ten minutes. Instead of the yellow lights of the tower remaining illuminated, these are shut off for this show, and instead all you can see are twinkling white lights against the shadow of the dark tower. The final show is perhaps the most magical of all and is the most unique show of the day as it only happens once. On the hour, every hour, the tower glitters with hundreds of thousands of lights for a full five minute. Prior to this, the light show took place every evening from sundown until 1AM. How to enjoy the Eiffel Tower illuminationsĪs of September 2022, in a bid to save power, the last Eiffel Tower sparkle is at 11:45 p.m. Though I must maintain that the best view in Paris is not from the top of the Eiffel Tower (due to its position not in the centre of the city), many still make it their Paris mission to ascend the iron landmark and admire the bird’s eye perspective from the top. Today, around seven million people visit the Eiffel Tower on an annual basis. From May 15-17 in 2019, a twelve minute show was projected onto the Tower to celebrate the tower’s 130th Birthday. In more recent times, the Eiffel Tower has projected the colours of the French flag to commemorate the victims of the terrible attacks of November 2015. However, in recent years, security concerns have led to firework events becoming much less common than before.Īs mentioned, in its lifetime, the Eiffel Tower has been used to project many things, and was even a giant billboard for Citroën in the 1920s. Once upon a time, firework displays against the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower would have been used to celebrate events, such as Bastille Day. Though the Light Show occurs every night, certain occasions mean that the Eiffel Tower is lit up in various ways to commemorate certain dates and events. In a bid to conserve more energy, the City of Paris actually installed low-energy using bulb in recent years to reduce the carbon-footprint used by the light show. The ‘sparkle’ aspect of the Eiffel Tower light show wasn’t introduced until 1999, when the system was installed just in time to ring in the new Millennium.Įach side of the Eiffel Tower has five thousand bulbs on it to create the sparkle effect, meaning that the tower has 20,000 in total. It also means that the Eiffel Tower can be seen, even during night in Paris, from the furthest away of vantage points, including that of Montmartre. ![]() This means that the tower can quite literally be lit from within. In its current iteration the Tower’s show has been created from placing orange yellow sodium lamps onto 336 large projectors. The current light show each evening was created by Pierre Bideau, a French engineer who created the system in 1985, though it may well surprise you to learn that the idea for lighting up the tower came as early as 1889. Known by many as the Eiffel Tower light show, the Dame de Fer glitters every night at various points, apart from under the most exceptional of circumstances. A brief history of the Eiffel Tower Light Show One of the top things to note is that the Iron Lady is often illuminated for special events, so don’t surprised if you see something other than a golden sparkle during your time in the city!įor example, on the first of October every year, the tower is illuminated in pink for the first day of Breast Cancer awareness month. Seeing the Eiffel Tower is at the top of the bucket list and if you opt to view it from anywhere in the city, it’s completely free. the raised esplanade which gives expansive views onto the Tour Eiffel and the Champ de Mars, here’s a guide on how to enjoy the Eiffel Tower sparkle. If you’re looking for one of the most magical experiences to have in Paris, then you simply need to enjoy the glittering lights of the Eiffel Tower come night time in the city. Pvs dental impression12/8/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() However, at $400 per hour, total provider overhead lands at $7 per minute. This can easily be approximated by adding up average PVS, retraction/hemostasis, mixing tips, adhesives, and tray component costs from supplier catalogs. The material cost of an average full-arch final impression is estimated to be just over $20. 2 All too often, I see doctors who seem resigned to the fate that a certain number of impressions must be repeated and a certain number of final restorations may not fit, leading to a repeat of the entire process-added appointments for patients and a huge opportunity cost. The average private practice in the US runs at an overhead rate of $400 per hour. The economicsĪll too often, we lose sight of our most costly commodity in practice-provider time. 1 This issue is complicated by the fact that the quality of a final impression is not standardized across practitioners. Unfortunately, the evidence suggests that 86% of final impressions submitted to commercial labs have at least one critical error, and 55% of noted errors critically involve the finish line. It can be argued that no other procedure in dentistry has such a critical link to outcome quality than a final impression used to fabricate an indirect restoration. As formulations improved and popularity increased, these materials replaced competitive classes-such as polysulfides, polyethers, and reversible hydrocolloids-as the most prevalent material used in practice to capture crown and bridge impressions. PVS impression materials have served the dental profession well for decades. The focus of this article will be to discuss best practices for impression taking, while introducing a recently released iteration of polyvinyl siloxane (PVS) impression materials with improved characteristics compared to traditional entries in this class. The advantages of digital capture are well defended in the literature with respect to accuracy, but the fact remains that the majority of practitioners are still using an analog impression medium in their practices. ![]() WHILE DATA VARIES based on the reporting source, digital scanners have penetrated dental practices at under 20%. ![]()

Caricature head shapes12/8/2023 ![]() Exaggeration- Without some form of exaggeration, or a departure from the exact representation of the subject’s features, all you have is a portrait. All good caricatures incorporate a good likeness of their subjects. Likeness- If you can’t tell who it is supposed to be, then it is not successful. So, what are the universal elements all caricatures have that identify them as caricatures? I would say there are three essential elements that transcend style and medium and must be present in a caricature: Obviously there is a connection beyond a common technique, school or format. How can you, when the word encompasses the elegant, minimalist lines of Al Hirschfeld to the lavish, value and color soaked paintings of Sebastian Kruger to the graphic, geometrical collages of David Cowles and everything in between? Despite the wild differences in style and technique, “caricature” is the tag that is placed on any of these works of art without hesitation. These kinds of things always start out with a definition, but “caricature” is a hard thing to pigeonhole into a single sentence. Therefore this is not instruction for just the live caricaturist but for any artist interested in caricature for any purpose. However all of that can be applied to more studio orientated caricature work and I have also added points and concepts directly from the less time-constrained world of caricature illustration. ![]() This is the first of a series of articles I will post here on The MAD Blog about my theories, methods and processes concerning how to draw caricatures.A lot of this information is part of what I teach my theme park artists, so it is derived partly from the approach of doing live, quick-draw caricatures. Part One: Basic Theory and the Five Shapes This is a must have book for anyone interested in caricature, cartooning or humorous illustration. ![]() This series of “How to Draw Caricatures” tutorials are a just a small taste of a larger and much more in-depth book I wrote called The Mad Art of Caricature! The book is 175 full-color pages, lavishly illustrated and contains greatly expanded explanations of the concepts presented in these tutorials, as well and a great deal of additional material on caricaturing other facial features, posture, hands, expression and more, techniques on drawing from live models, doing caricature for freelance illustration and for MAD Magazine. Sony alarm clock with projection12/8/2023 ![]() The easiest way is actually with a scanning laser that simply draws the image against a wall. Projection alarm clocks generally work in one of or a mix of two methods. How Does It Work? Explaining The Technologies Behind Lasers and LEDs, which are the primary technologies involved, are not very special anymore. Now, they’re very affordable, because the projection technology in use has become, itself, quite cheap and commonplace to produce. These have been popular boutique gifts for some time, once relatively expensive. While not quite the holographic displays of science fiction (be patient, those are closer than we think), it does have a bit of futurism to it, and a certain charm as a result. ![]() The result is a soft, luminous display that’s easily read from a distance, without an overly bright display disrupting your sleep. Projection alarm clocks cast a soft, luminous image of the time (and sometimes other information) onto a wall or ceiling. My personal experience with projection alarm clocks. What to look for when buying a projection alarm clock. How do projection alarm clocks work? Explaining the technologies behind. If you still have questions, you can read an FAQ section to have all the answers. A comparative review of the main brand-name products includes analysis of their strong and weak points as well as the evaluation of their performance. This guide tells you about the main features you should look for when buying a device and offers 6 best projection alarm clocks you will want to consider. While a lot of this is polished to keep an older technology relevant, some of it can be quite useful. Most of this comes in display technology both in how the displays work, and the amount of data they can display. ![]() ![]() In all reality, projection alarm clock technology has more or less reached a plateau, with further advances really being novelty features, gimmicks, and other “bells and whistles” which enhance their base performance. ![]()

Tower of power power12/8/2023 ![]() ![]() Now, all he needs to do is survive long enough to reach this tower. It was a good thing, then, that he stumbled onto two half-elf twins willing to help him get the hang of this strange new world. Getting dropped into a strange new world with no idea what the rules are was not something Morgan was a fan of and in this strange world, it seems like everything is out to eat his face. So he accepted the offer from the surfer god-not-god. There's a crazy-looking dude saying he is technically not a god on one end of the tunnel and a blinding light on the other end - and he was really not digging the light. Morgan didn't usually trust strangers who seem to have god complexes, but he was in a pinch. There is the promise of great rewards and power, he says, if Morgan manages to complete the Tower of Power. He came in the band, and we eventually changed. I met Doc Kupka back in 1968, and gave him an audition. Rocco was the bass player, I was there, and my brother was the drummer. The man offered him a new chance at life in a world he had created, a world with similar rules to the games Morgan loved to play. For 55 years, Tower of Power has delivered the best in funk and soul music. We were a Soul band called The Motowns. He went to college by day and played online games by night, leading his guild into new conquests - until he got hit by a car and a dude wearing a wet suit appeared in front of him. Mastered at Sony Music Studios (New York City, New York).Morgan used to be a pretty normal guy.Recorded at Rumbo Recorders and Skip Saylor Recording (Los Angeles, California) Pacifique Studios and Track Record Studios (North Hollywood, California) Can-Am Recorders (Tarzana, California).Danny Alonso – additional engineer, assistant engineer.Paul Perez – alto saxophone, tenor saxophone This set was recorded live at Tower of Powers 40th anniversary concert at The Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco.Greg Adams – trumpet, flugelhorn, horn arrangements, flugelhorn solo (6), trumpet solo (9).Lee Thornburg – trombone, trumpet, flugelhorn, backing vocals.Stephen "Doc" Kupka – baritone saxophone.Emilio Castillo – tenor saxophone, backing vocals, lead vocals (13). ![]() Led by Detroit-born tenor saxophonist Emilio Castillo, the Oakland-based.
